Ask The Holy Spirit
From Pastor Tim Olof
The other day I was with my son, and he asked me, “Dad, is it enough to invite people to church?”
I told him about a man in the church that has been coming to The Rock for about three months and he invited a lady when he was at the dog park. That lady showed up and then she invited her neighbor who has now been at The Rock for the past two weeks. So within three months, the Lord has brought three new people, two due to inviting people to church.
This can go further though. I know the intent of the question was beyond that answer. What I mean is that you should ask the Holy Spirit where people are. Meaning, “where are they” in their relationship with God? Some need to be invited to The Rock, others need to be shown the love of God in their current situation. The Rock has been blessed to be a blessing to other people…people we don’t know and who have never set foot inside this building. People do and will get saved outside of a Sunday morning. People will grow outside the church building. You, my fellow brothers and sisters, can lead them to Jesus. You can show them the Word of God and equip them to follow Jesus.
When I am in a public place, I often think about the people present around me.
Do they know Jesus?
Are they in rebellion because of past hurts?
Were they raised in a home that loves Jesus?
What type of role models did they have?
Are they going to heaven or hell?
Did anyone love them enough to tell them about Jesus?
So, is it enough to invite people to church?
Sometimes.
Do Christians need to do something more than an invite to church?
Sometimes.
I ask you to ask the Holy Spirit what to do in that situation. When He tells you, go ahead and do it…that is the right answer.
Love,
Tim
