I Want to Be Something

From Pastor Shemalya King

“And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2

It seems that humanity focuses on the wrong things to feel like they're something–to validate their worth. Christians alike focus on the wrong things: speaking in tongues, prophesying, having great faith, sacrificial giving, etc. But without love, all these things mean nothing at all. More than that, a person IS NOTHING without love (though they have accomplished the list and more).

The actions of love without the character of love is futile. Every believer should desire to be filled with love so that each CAN love. If you're wondering why you feel empty, angry, sad, and unimportant (though you make SO MANY sacrifices), maybe it's because you don't have love. Read 1 Corinthians 13:1-3.

Charity (love) suffers long AND is kind, it does not envy others, it isn't boastful, it doesn't show itself to be MORE than what it is, it doesn't behave in an unbecoming way, it isn't self seeking or easily provoked, it doesn't rejoice in injustice or law breaking: it rejoices in truth, it does not show itself with evil thoughts, it hopes, it believes, and it endures. Charity (love) never fails. Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
