Who is Leading Your Life?

Galatians 5:16
“So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” (NLT)
One of the greatest dangers for a believer is learning how to look spiritual while still allowing our flesh to lead.
We can attend church every week, serve faithfully, know Scripture, and even speak the language of faith, yet still make decisions from offense, fear, pride, insecurity, or the desire to be recognized. The flesh doesn’t always appear loud. Sometimes it disguises itself as wisdom, self-protection, or even ministry.
The Holy Spirit has been reminding me that before God entrusts us with greater influence, He wants greater surrender. He is not looking for polished Christians; He is looking for yielded hearts.
Throughout Scripture, God consistently called His people to examine themselves. David prayed, “Search me, O God.” Paul encouraged believers to examine whether they were living in the faith. The Lord is far more concerned with the condition of our hearts than the appearance of our lives.
When we don’t know our identity in Christ, we begin looking for it everywhere else. We seek validation from people, compare ourselves to others, become offended easily, struggle to forgive, or compete for positions that God never assigned to us. But when our identity is rooted in Jesus, we are free to celebrate others, forgive quickly, and walk confidently in the lane God has given us.
The Holy Spirit is inviting the Church into deeper maturity. This is not a season for pretending. It is a season for allowing Him to expose anything that does not reflect Christ—not to shame us, but to transform us. Every area we surrender becomes another place where His character can shine through us.
As you spend time with the Lord this week, ask Him a simple question:
“Holy Spirit, is there any area of my life where my flesh has been leading more than You?”
If He reveals something, don’t resist Him. Respond with humility. Repentance is not punishment; it is an invitation to walk closer with Jesus.
The Strategic Time Is Now. May we be a people who are not merely hearers of God’s Word, but doers who are continually being transformed into His image.
