We Need to Forgive
From Carlos Diaz
Matthew 6:14-15 says:
“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Every day we are tempted to fall short—sometimes in our actions, sometimes in our words, and often in our thoughts. The person who cuts us off in traffic that can immediately stir anger in our hearts. The moment we’re tempted to justify something we know isn’t right. Sin isn’t just done outwardly—it can also happen within us. The truth is that there are probably people in our lives right now whom we need to forgive—not partially, not conditionally, not while secretly keeping a record of what they did. We are called to forgive completely, releasing the debt and refusing to continually bring it up. Unforgiveness can never be justified in light of what Christ has done for us. Jesus willingly went to the cross and paid for all our sins. The mercy we have received is the same mercy we are called to extend to others.
The Bible is God’s story of redemption—a book that reconciles us to the Father through Jesus Christ. It is filled with truth, wisdom, correction, comfort, and hope. In seasons of joy, crisis, pain, and hopelessness, God’s Word points us back to Him.
Today, I encourage you to think about those people you may still be holding resentment toward. Bring them before the Lord and choose forgiveness. It may not be easy, and it may be a process, but it is a path to freedom. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to forgive yourself. If God has forgiven you through Christ, stop carrying what He has already removed. My prayer is that you would experience the freedom, peace, and healing that come through genuine forgiveness. I love you all and I pray God’s grace would empower you to forgive wholeheartedly and walk in the liberty that Christ purchased for you.
Freedom begins where forgiveness starts.
